Thank you for your interest in our annual dog walk to be held at the Barber-Oberwortmann Horticultural Center in Pilcher Park. This year’s event will be on October 1st and step off at 9:00 am. Check in will be 8:30 am. Registration fee is due by September 22nd and is $25.00. Late registration is $30.00. We are using the same starting location as last year off Gougar Rd at the greenhouse. We are using the same walking path with the turn around at the Nature Center.
You are asked to collect sponsorships for you and your pet walking the event. However, sponsorships are suggested and not mandatory for walking. Money should be collected and handed in on the morning of the walk in an envelope with the names of the walkers and the amount on the envelope. Your sponsorship sheet will also be required at that time. There will be a gift awarded to the pair collecting the greatest amount of donations.
Walkers should dress for the weather. Dogs should be well socialized, in good condition and must be current on all vaccinations. Walkers should take care that their pet is also protected against environmental hazards such as fleas ticks and mosquitoes. Goody bags and refreshments for all will be available.
We would also like to make you aware that the Dog Walk is again a part of a Fall Paw Fest . The Will County Humane Society and the Joliet Park District will be hosting this special event as a celebration of all things cat and dog.
At the time of this letter we have The American Red Cross First Aid for Pets, Search and Rescue, Obedience demonstrations, vendors, the JJC Vet Tech School participating, New Lenox 4H, and the American Guide Dogs. Cats will have a section inside with their own competitions and a speaker inside.
We plan to make this a family oriented event with plans to grow to include all family pets.
